All angles and dimensions must be observed as it requires much practice. Therefore STIHL recommends the use of filing assistance.
Filing guage
1) Teaching for depth guage2) Marker edge for sharpening angle3) Measurement scale for measuring the depth of the groove of the guide rail4) For marker edge angle
As well as for random inspection of tooth angle STIHL offers a file gauge. Select this to match the chain pitch, then you can use it to check all the necessary angles and dimensions. Especially the right checking and reworking the depth gauge is considerably simplified by the filing gauge.
In all following filing aids with the exception of the file holder 2-in-1 and 4 of the FG you should also use a file gauge to easily check the depth gauge.
Sharpening grid
To comply with the correct sharpening angle STIHL offers the sharpening grid. This is simply using two magnets attached to the guide rail and helps you maintain the correct sharpening angle by stamped lines.
File holder
The STIHL file holder helps to position the file for use in their position and height. The file holder must be selected according to the chain pitch.
By correct edition of the STIHL file holder and depth gauge to ensure that the file in the correct amount and the correct angle is maintained. Through an optical 30° marking of the file holder also supports keeping the sharpening angle. For additional optical grid orientation the sharpening may be used.
File holder guide FF1
Do you want to rely not only on a visual guide when sharpening chain, STIHL offers a supplement to a file holder, the file holder guide. Select a file holder guide to match the chain pitch and set at a 30 ° angle on the chain on the guide rail. The file holder is laterally guided by the file holder guide and aligned in the correct sharpening angle of 30 ° to the guide rail. Now you only have to push the file holder at right angles to the rail by the file holder guide.
Have you sharpened all teeth, depth gauge clearance check and adjust if necessary.
File holder 2-in-1
Do you want to sharpen the cutting teeth and reset the depth gauge, STIHL recommends the file holder 2-in-1. As the file holder is also directed to the file holder 2-in-1 file at the correct height of the incisor. The arrangement of the handles and markers offers an excellent visual orientation for maintaining the 30 ° sharpening angle.
In one operation, both the incisor be sharpened with a round file and a flat file the depth gauge is reset to the proper level. Through the rest of the guide ribs on the cutting surfaces is an optimal management of the two files.
FG 4
A good addition to the free hand file is the role bargaining unit FG 4
Select Role bargaining unit and round file to match the chain pitch. The role of bargaining unit is placed directly on the chain on the guide rail and supports you in positioning the file in all directions. Use round file into the role bargaining unit. The orientation of the file is best if these easily at the correct sharpening angle without tilting over the two lower rollers slides.
In addition, the FG 4 contains a fold-out filing platelets to check and reposition the depth gauge. This bargaining chip is specially hardened so that the depth gauges are filed with this flush without removing it. The positioning of the bargaining chip facilitates compliance with the raker and the subsequent drooping of the depth gauge is not necessary.
FG 2
Bargaining units are suitable for precise sharpening of saw chains. They provide precise positioning of the file, thus allowing a good repair of worn chain saws. The stop for the tooth to be sharpened, the system facilitates compliance with the same tooth length.
The FG 2 is mounted on the workbench. The chain must be removed for sharpening of the guide rail.
FG 1, FG 3
FG 1 and FG 3 are mounted on the guide rail. Otherwise they work similar to FG 2.
You have two options.
