Head protection covers several considerations: A robust protective hard hat protects the head from falling branches and other objects. Face protection helps prevent injuries to the face. Hearing protection significantly reduces noise stress.
Find out more why hearing protection is important at work.
Our hard hat sets, also known as forestry helmets, are as light as possible. This means they offer you high wearing comfort while also being extremely stable. For tree climbing, we have hard hats that are designed especially for working in trees. A visor protects against splinters of wood that may be flying around, for example during sawing work. This consists of a transparent plastic window, sturdy metal mesh, or fine nylon fabric. Our hard hat sets also include hearing protection, insulating against noise emissions that are damaging to health.
To protect your hearing from noise damage, it is advisable to wear hearing protection, such as ear protectors, especially with petrol-powered tools. The user manual will tell you if hearing protection is recommended when using your power tool. Employers are obliged to provide their employees with appropriate ear protection in the event of exposure to noise levels of 85 dB(a) and above.
The safety requirements of European standard EN 352 must be met. This specifies noise protection in relation to 3 frequency ranges: (H) stands for high, (M) for medium (L) for low frequencies. The insulating value, stated as SNR, describes the difference between the actual volume and the volume that reaches the eardrum when using hearing protection.
People working in forests in teams must be able to communicate well. It is useful for hearing protection to support this. Thanks to technologies such as Bluetooth® and ADVANCE ProCOM technology from STIHL, you can communicate directly or by means of two-way radios or smartphones. Selected sets include one or even both technologies.
