2018 AUSTRALIAN CHAINSAW CARVING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Proudly Sponsored by STIHL.
STIHL are proud to present the 2018 Australian Chainsaw Carving Championship, where fine art meets high-powered chainsaws!
For half a decade now, STIHL has teamed up with SkyHigh Mount Dandenong to showcase the world's most elite chainsaw carving artists in action. With artists hailing from across the globe, this year's competition will some of the most talented from the USA, Canada, Japan, and of course, some homegrown talent to make Australia proud. Taking place on Tuesday 16th to Sunday 21st of January, all artists will have 5 days to transform ethically sourced Cyprus Pine logs into breathtaking works of art centred around this year's theme - ‘The Garden'. The sixth day of the competition will also see our artists race against the clock in the ‘Speed Carve Challenge', with the final pieces being auctioned off after the event.
This year, Australia's own reigning champion, Robby Bast (VIC) will return to defend his title alongside young up-and-comer, Brandon Kroon (VIC), 2017 podium finisher, Matt Bird (QLD), crowd-favourite, Angie Polglaze (VIC), as well as first time entrant, Shane Christensen (QLD). Rounding out this year's roster will be 2014 & 2016 champion, Hikaru Kodama (JPN), 2016 runner-up, Jeff Samudosky (USA), as well as ACCC first timers, Mike Ayers (USA), Jordan Anderson (USA) and Marina Cole (CAN).
STIHL will be generously supplying carvers with their new Compact Battery Chainsaws, the MSA 120 C-QB and MSA 140 C-QB. STIHL's Compact Battery Chainsaws have been making some serious waves in the carving community. Not only are they incredibly quiet and comfortable for carvers to use, but their exceptional light weight and outstanding maneuverability allows users to carve with precision and detail. The combination of 36V lithium-ion batteries and over 80 years of chainsaw manufacturing know how means plenty of power is on hand to slice through bigger cuts with ease, just like their petrol powered equivalents that have seen the brand voted number 1 for quality in garden power tools.
What better way is there to see out the Summer holidays? This event is for the whole family and is the perfect way to get outdoors and see some of the world's most unique artists in action, and best of all, entry is FREE^!
