2017 STIHL Timbersports Australian Women's Championship
Presented by AMAROK V6
Winkleigh's Amanda Beams ruled the stage at Australia's first STIHL TIMERSPORTS® Australian Women's Championship held at Melbourne's iconic Albert Park on Friday.
Amanda was crowned the ‘2017 STIHL TIMERSPORTS® Australian Women's Champion' after putting on a stellar performance throughout the day and dominating the top end of the leaderboard across all disciplines, with an overall tally of 21 points.
It was as easy as 3, 2 1 for Amanda whose competition kicked off with the powerful STIHL Stock saw. Amanda quickly found her groove securing third spot for the round with a time of 15.55 seconds.
The competition really started to heat up in the Single Buck with Amanda taking second place in the heat overall. She held the lead for a short time, and beating her PB with a time of 25.14 seconds, but was soon ousted from the lead by Queensland's Renee Retschlag who sawed a time of 22.52.
But it was the third and final round, the Underhand Chop, that had spectators on their seats with a nail biting finish. Amanda had an outstanding win against Queensland's Renee Retschlag, setting a new Australian women's record with a time of 58.98 seconds, to win the Women's Champion.
Amanda said, "It's a dream come true to win the title, but I can't explain the joy to win it for the very first time. Having women recognised in TIMBERSPORTS is exciting for all the competitors involved and we can only hope that more great talent is attracted to the sport.
