Comfort right from the start
Starting has never been so easy. The innovative STIHL Easy2Start makes starting STIHL power tools easy and straightforward, without requiring a lot of effort. The secret is an additional spring between the crankshaft and the starter rope rotor. STIHL power tools with STIHL Easy2Start are indicated by the letter "E" in the model name.
- Low effort: The maximum loads occurring when starting the engine have been perceptibly reduced.
- Pulling smoothly and evenly on the starter grip: Unusual loads due to compression are not felt on the starter grip.
- Slower starting speed: The speed necessary when pulling the starter rope is considerably reduced.
- Reliable starting: No matter whether you pull briskly or slowly on the starter rope, the engine starts easily and reliably.
This is how it works
An even pull with two fingers is sufficient. Compared with conventional starters, the STIHL Easy2Start not only needs less effort but also allows the starter rope to be pulled two-thirds slower. The even pull on the starter rope tensions the spring against the compression pressure. Stresses caused by jerky movements are avoided. The spring automatically releases the stored energy to the crankshaft, starts it moving and ensures that the engine will start reliably.
A spring housing with the spring and two drive lugs is fitted between the rope rotor and the crankshaft. The force used to pull the starter rope tensions the spring against the opposing force created by the piston during compression. If the energy of the pretensioned spring is greater than the opposing force created by the piston during compression, the crankshaft starts to turn and the engine fires.
In contrast to the standard starting system which requires quick, jerky movements to activate it, with STIHL Easy2Start all that is needed is to pull the starter rope smoothly and evenly all the way out. The Easy2Start system takes care of the rest. Unnecessary and undesirable compression loads are avoided.
