STIHL battery lawn mowers in the pro line are designed for high performance and a very long service life. In pro lawn mower tests the machines prove their quality in endurance programmes and on special test benches that simulate inconsistent operating conditions.
To ensure safety is guaranteed, the tools undergo a projectile test in which metal balls are thrown into the blade while it is running. In the impact test the running blade hits a steel bolt; the blade bends only slightly to protect the crankshaft from damage.
The robustness of our high quality battery lawn mowers is checked in a drop test that simulates a fall from a loading platform. The stability of the mono comfort handlebar is also subjected to an endurance test during lawn mower development to ensure that it can withstand the stresses of everyday professional use.
STIHL battery lawn mowers are characterised by a 4-in-1 model that combines catching, mulching, rear and side ejection. In addition, a hybrid housing made of aluminium and a replaceable polymer insert ensure low wear.

Battery lawn mowers in test: your safety is our top priority
Extreme operating conditions are simulated to ensure suitability for everyday professional use. This is done through endurance testing, drop and impact tests, bench testing of rollers and precise simulation of the airflow in the mower deck. All individual parts are also tested in continuous use.
Only after all tests have been successfully completed – including in a final “end-of-line test” in which every function of the device is checked – is the tool released for delivery.
The new STIHL battery lawn mowers
STIHL RMA Series 7 battery lawn mowers are designed for demanding pro use. They use the AP battery system and work with two 36-volt batteries, which together deliver system power of 72 volts. With an output of up to 2.8 kW, they achieve cutting performance on a par with petrol-driven lawn mowers. For particularly dense or tall grass, the “Auto-Boost” mode delivers more than 3 kW of mechanical power for a short time.
Features of the new STIHL Series 7 battery lawn mowers
Series 7 battery lawn mowers are multi-functional mowers:
- Catcher mower: 4-in-1 function (catching, mulching, rear and side ejection). The grass catcher box can always be filled to 100 percent – thanks to its 80-litre capacity and optimised airflow.
- Mulch mower: 2-in-1 function (mulching, side discharge). When mulching, flow-optimised blades ensure that finely shredded grass clippings can be used as natural fertiliser.
All Series 7 lawn mowers have a height-adjustable and foldable mono comfort handlebar. This makes it easy to remove the grass catcher box and store the mower.
For convenient operation at your fingertips, all RMA 7 series lawn mowers are equipped with a digital HMI control element which also offers smart STIHL connected functionality.
Standard features include an aluminium outer casing, impact-resistant, replaceable polymer inner casing, and durable components such as double ball-bearing aluminium wheels.
Featuring a powerful EC motor, the battery motor unit works with two 36-volt AP batteries which provide system power of 72 V and electrical output of up to 3.5 kW. The electric drive system with Vario gearbox enables speeds from 0 to 6 km/h and includes smooth start-up and gearbox protection.
STIHL pro battery lawn mowers are highly durable and require minimal maintenance.
The sophisticated hybrid housing forms the robust foundation of the pro lawn mowers. Areas which are particularly prone to stress are protected with a replaceable liner that can be easily replaced when worn. Maintenance is also well thought out: Special hexagon screwheads are not quickly clogged with dirt, which makes servicing much easier.
